skin-care
It wasn't until I turned 25 that I was a skin-care person. I always believed the one which I was criticized for during my college days on acne and it is big spot on my face and extremely dull looking skin. I believed that I was going to be the same ugly lady and nothing would work on my skin because all the skin products I have tried on my face either did nothing or made my skin worse.
It took me a long time to realize that I was not born with bad skin, I myself made it through my unhealthy and careless lifestyle.
Here's what my skin looked like during my initial stages of following a proper skin care routine and healthy lifestyle back in 2019. (Earlier my skin was the worst, unfortunately I don't have the picture) It has little foundation and concealer which cannot hide much.
Even with foundation and concealer my acne scars are clearly visible and there was definitely a lighter concealer. It was so bad. I never thought I would ever share my skin routine otherwise my earlier picture could have been a great example of my poor lifestyle.
Coming back to my routine:
Before planning any routine or buying any skin product, first check what your skin type is.
I start my skin care routine with my favorite face washes, which are pear and ahaglow for their exfoliating ingredients.
As for toner, sometimes it's Green Tea or Biotique Honey Toner with Homemade Rose Water in the morning and Dot & Key Skin Exfoliating Toner at night (contains fragrance, though so far it worked for my sensitive skin) Is)
For the serum, I use something that contains a combination of both retinol and hyaluronic acid every alternate days. And on days I'm not using retinol, I use a homemade vitamin C serum. Which has removed almost my acne spots till now.
And last is the moisturizer, my current favorite is The Ordinary brand moisturizer which says that it is chemical free and is friendly to my skin after trying the hell of moisturizers available in the market.
Along with the above skin care routine I make sure that I am using face masks twice or thrice a week, not facemasks or packs available in the market. I use fresh homemade DIY face masks which are according to my experience. According to it is very nice.
But, before applying the face pack and after cleansing my face I massage my face with aloe vera gel mixed with vitamin E capsules till it gets completely absorbed in my skin and wash it off without I use any of the masks I have below.
My favorite is:
Licorice powder, honey and lemon face mask. I prepare a paste and apply all over my face and neck. Wash it off after 25 minutes.
sandalwood and honey face mask
Orange peel powder, tomato juice and charcoal powder face mask.
Continuous use of the mask gives good results.
Not to forget the most important trick is to follow a healthy eating habit, I would not say cut this and that.
I do not like to punish myself by banning my favorite junk food, desserts or not eating proper Indian home cooked food. It's just that I've learned to balance my food cycle according to what I need. I don't believe in dieting, I eat everything but in a balanced way. You have to communicate with our bodies and understand what to eat and when to eat. Your digestion and clean gut is a key. It also helped me lose weight.
And of course now almost everyone knows how important exercise/workout/yoga, fluids and lots of water are to your overall health. The one I follow the most.
Another picture is lil ready and to be honest it may have a very slight default filter of mobile camera clicked from friends phone
Update: I've got a lot of questions on chemical exfoliation and retinol, so here's the update.
I have started incorporating chemical exfoliation into my skin care routine, which includes the Minimalist brand's chemical peeling solution as well as serums.
This update in my routine in such a game changer. Their Chemical Exfoliation Peel and Retinol Serum is just so amazing. And really worth giving a try.
I am also trying out fragrance skin care products. And my all-time favorite in Niacinamide Serum. Which is now a part of my night skin care routine.
